Kuromoji is Japan's leading type of high-quality aromatic tree.

Kuromoji is known as a leading species of aromatic tree native to Japan. It contains a wealth of essential oil constituents with an excellent fragrance. When broken off, the twigs and branches emit a marvelous scent that has a refreshing effect and delicate sweetness.

Oki Island

Of all the kuromoji grown in Japan, the essential oil born of those on the Oki Islands has a complex composition of constituents due to the unique natural environment there. The main constituent of essential oil from ordinary kuromoji is linalool, which is said to account for about 50 percent of the total. In the case of essential oil from kuromoji grown on the Oki Islands, in contrast, the composition is not dominated by linalool, and there is a more balanced assortment of diverse constituents. This creates the pure yet deep, sweet, and mystical fragrance characterizing it.
